Our commitment to sustainability

Grifols works each and every day to improve the health and well-being of people around the world. It's been this way since 1909, when the company's founder, Josep Antoni Grifols i Roig, established our ongoing commitment to generate positive social impact through research and innovation, striving to create a better society for all. Enveloped in the company's history are the principles of integrity, ethics, honesty and transparency.

Our founder's words guide Grifols today, and are the values on which we are building our future.

Inspired by our values, we are determined to safeguard human rights by identifying, preventing, mitigating and addressing any adverse effects on people that could arise directly or indirectly from the company's business activities. Please see our Human Rights Policy for more information.

Grifols partners with public, public-private, academic and civil-society organizations that share our commitment to improving access to health, protecting the environment and promoting the research and development of new therapeutics that enhance people's health and quality of life.

We're proud that our daily work helps society, generating local jobs and social value for donors, patients and communities. At the same time, we take care so that our operations leave a soft environmental footprint. The company applies ecoefficient and circular economy measures to our products, processes and facilities.

Sustainability in action

We have developed a Sustainability Master Plan that seeks to consolidate and reinforce our sustainable culture throughout the company. This plan is in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda.

Advancing with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

We joined the UN's plan and established priority corporate goals, aligned with the SDGs, to contribute to reduce inequalities and promote global prosperity through economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection.

United Nations Global Compact

In 2021, we reinforced our commitment sustainability by signing the UN Global Compact, a global initiative that calls on companies to align their operations with the universal principles of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. As a participant, Grifols reports its progress towards UN’s SDGs.
