Grifols Engineering, together with the Probitas Foundation , has installed new modular centers in Liberia to produce anti-Ebola immunoglobulins.

The purpose of these modules is to centralize the testing of samples from donors who have recovered from Ebola, thus improving the process and the gathering of results. The samples obtained are tested using the PCR technique (Polymerase Chain Reaction), which is used to amplify DNA sequences.

The new centers are organized into two independent areas: the PCR tests for detecting Ebola and Lassa fever are carried out in the first, and HIV and hepatitis B and C in the second.

Grifols Engineering implemented 100% of the design and the construction of the new modules, resulting in a significant improvement in the thermal insulation features and climate elements. The modules also incorporate solar panels and other elements to guarantee the sustainability of the facility.

The new modules come eight years after Grifols deliver the first modular plasma donor center in Monrovia to collect plasma form donors who had survived Ebola and as part of the company’s commitment to combat the disease.

Since Grifols reached an agreement with the Government of the Republic of Liberia, Grifols Engineering has continued strengthening the project's key elements, such as improving the design of the modular centers, always adhering to the highest standards of quality.
